Bands, audience and press alike raved about the music and the vibe at Roadburn 2011. Bands spurred each other to deliver fantastic, highly acclaimed performances. Socially speaking, it was one big party. The unique camaraderie between everyone involved turned the 2011 edition into something to remember for a lifetime. Suddenly, it was no longer a rumor. Roadburn’s reputation as one of the world’s best and most laidback festivals to be experienced was confirmed.
The attention focused on Roadburn in the media – and by that I mean everything from print and broadcast media to the blogosphere, social networks and beyond — reached new heights, too. I have been overwhelmed by the countless glowing reviews, the radio shows, and all of the blogging, tweeting and inspiring forum discussions about the 2011 edition of the festival. To me, it felt like this was the year that the sum of Roadburn became greater than its parts.
This isn’t about organizing a festival anymore. Roadburn has become a home away from home for all of us — bands, fans and organizers alike. I have never experienced this as strongly as I did this year. Walking around the 013 venue or among the bars and restaurants around the corner, the Roadburn experience became something palpable. A living, breathing creature.
Roadburn is about making friends and sharing a love for psychedelic, avant-garde, doom and all sorts of other variations on far out sonic pleasures that push the boundaries of music. And in some cases film, art and literature, too. How could this be so intimidating?
Roadburn 2012 is already rumbling. The living, breathing creature is stirring. Going over all of the various wish lists makes me nervous. Petrified. The typical loop tape inside my head goes something like this: “How can we top this year’s amazing line-up?” “Will it be possible to get all the bands that we have in mind?” “What does everyone want Roadburn 2012 to be?” “Is it even possible to continue Roadburn as it is?” “Can we make the Roadburn experience second to none?”
This is my reality, something I face everyday while working on the 2012 edition. It can be kind of intimidating for me, which I have been assured is natural. Still, I can’t help but get anxious from time to time. I sincerely want Roadburn 2102 to be as good as our previous festivals.
The music biz has changed dramatically since we started out. Even the underground has changed. In 2012 it will be even harder for underground bands to tour, and we simply don’t have the financial means to back tours or to help a dozen bands fly in just for the festival. I see so many suggestions for great cult bands that we can’t get to Roadburn and it really breaks my heart. I want to see them, too!
It’s also impossible to get some of the more well-established bands mentioned. Either they are way too big for Roadburn or they won’t be on tour next spring, or it just isn’t possible to get them involved.
The budget side is always a challenge. The new 13% tax increase on concert tickets here in the Netherlands is another harsh reality to face as it will affect ticket prices for us, too.
Roadburn isn’t a sponsored or corporate event; it’s a break-even festival and all tickets need to be sold. We will go to great lengths to help bands get to Roadburn within the power of our budget. We have to tell more bands and bookers nowadays that there isn’t a pot of gold stashed away. We’re all into this together, and we have to make it work together. It’s give and take from both sides.
I am happy to report that the line-up for Roadburn 2012 is starting to shape up very nicely. We have the headliner for the first night of the festival (Thursday, 12 April) lined up. We also have the overall festival headliner. And the curator! Not to mention several amazing bands. We will start announcing the first bands at the end of August or early September once the final details have been ironed out. Please bear with us; it will definitely be worth the wait.
Roadburn 2012 will include first timers as well as bands that have graced our stages before. Having witnessed their incredible shows during previous editions we couldn’t resist asking them back. The line-up will be nicely balanced. There will be various bands on tour during Roadburn season that will not be appearing at the festival; that’s just how it goes as we strive to keep blazing our unique artistic trail. In the end, Roadburn 2012 will be as amazing as ever before.

да, в самом тилбурге они, как правило, распроданы до начала продажи билетов. яб опять взял "джангалоу" или "шале", еси честно... в этом году был полностью доволен им. но сейчас рановато об этом думать... хотя в этом году даже "джангалоу" были распроданы

We are overjoyed to join forces with Voivod for the upcoming Roadburn Festival. The band’s take on thrash metal, hardcore, prog rock, avant-garde and punk has been honed to perfection for almost three decades. Captured in various stages and formations on more than 13 albums, including the legendary Killing Technology, Dimension Hatröss and Nothingface trilogy, the chilling Phobos and 2003′s high energy self-titled release, what began as a desire to do their own thing is now recognized as groundbreaking. The band has strongly influenced scores of musicians practicing the kind of sonic alchemy that defies simple tags like “heavy metal” or “psychedelic.”
We are truly looking forward to the new ideas and visions that Voivod will bring to the festival next year. If asked to sum up Roadburn in one word, “progressive” would be a fitting choice. Evolution is a big part of this. The festival is a tribute to the open-mindedness of its bands, curators and audience. The joy comes from expanding musical horizons and looking at familiar territory from new angles. We will definitely be in for some artistic surprises with the always intrepid Voivod as our curator. Roadburn Festival 2012, including Voivod’s special event, will run for four days from Thursday, April 12 to Sunday, April 15 (the traditional Afterburner) at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland. Pre-sales will start Saturday, November 26th, 2011.

билеты поступят в продажу кде-то в конце ноября/начале декабря. цена в прошлом году: 175 евро за основной фест+ афтербёрнер (если мне не изменяет память). в след. году, походу, будет дороже, т.к. в голландии повысился какой-то налог, связанный с проведением таких мероприятий
распродатутся минут до 15 минут, я думаю... но вобщем-то народ их ближе к самому фесту начинает распродавать. но так ни разу не рисковал покупать.
кое-что по ценам:
пиво в 013 - 4 евро пиво в барах рядом - 5 евро пиво в супермаркете - 2 евро пожрать че-нить маленькое, типа шаурмы - 5 евро (но ваще лутше, конечно набрать ссобой по максимуму, то, что возможно и делать какие-нибудь сэндвичи или что-то в этом роде... или там затариться в супермаркете) пожрать нормально - от 10 евро курево - 10 евро за грам трюфеля: где-то 13 евро за упаковочку

Roadburn is elated to announce that legendary doom pioneers The Obsessed will reunite to play the Roadburn Festival on Saturday, 14 April 2012. The band will be featuring the lineup from The Church Within; Scott “Wino” Weinrich on guitar/vocals, Greg Rogers (Goatsnake, Sonic Medusa) on drums and Guy Pinhas (Acid King, Goatsnake and Beaver) on bass.

There is no debating the impact that Wino has had (and continues to have) on the stoner scene, and The Obsessed is the band with which he developed his signature doom songwriting and guitar sound. Formed in Maryland in 1976 as Warhorse, they soon changed their name to The Obsessed. The original four man lineup was pared down to a power trio and they spent several years playing shows and honing their sound, culminating in the release of the Sodden Jackal 7″ in1983.
The band then went on hiatus as Wino joined Saint Vitus for a few years in the late ’80s. They reformed in 1990 with Wino joined by a rhythm section of Greg Rogers and Scott Reeder. The new lineup released Lunar Womb before Reeder left to join Kyuss. At that point Guy Pinhas joined as the bass player and the band was signed to Columbia Records and went on to release The Church Within.
The Church Within was Wino’s most critically hailed album. Despite being co-released by Hellhound Records and the major label Columbia Records, the music-buying masses were not ready to embrace doom in 1994 and instead fixated on buying records by rehashed pop-punk bands. Several factors led to The Church Within becoming The Obsessed‘s last full-length album. Despite not becoming a top-seller, the album remains hugely influential.
Wino has appeared at Roadburn in a number of guises, including: Saint Vitus, Shrinebuilder, Spirit Caravan, The Hidden Hand, and his eponymous band, Wino. His distinctive style of guitar playing and his seemingly endless supply of great riffs has earned him a place on the Mount Rushmore of stoner rock, and now we at Roadburn are thrilled to give you the opportunity to experience the band that started the legend.

Founded in 2009, Norway’s Devil are a return to the heyday of proto-metal. With a stripped down, vintage, melodic sound that recalls the likes of Black Sabbath, Pentagram and a more typical NWOBHM vibe of Witchfinder General, Devil‘s debut full-length,Time to Repent offers up tales of sorcery, evil women, open graves and all manner of good clean family fun with an utter and complete lack of pretense. On stage, Devil don’t attempt any overblown grandeur either, as the band relies instead on their swaggering doom, chuggy guitar riffs and their honest to god, pure garage-metal approach. All hail Devil!

Recalling the vibes of brethren like Woven Hand, Comus, Sixteen Horsepower, Burial Hex, Espers, Six Organs Of Admittance and and Mellow Candle but also forging their own unique and uncanny own special atmosphere where nature, magic and the wonder of the universe are called forth in a passionate, urgent and gorgeously strange musical spell. They dub their band The Death Magicians, they call their sound “Interior-world-music for secret ceremonies and forest rituals,” and they cite Captain Beefheart and The Magic Band and the Isle of Wight Festival 1970 as some of their biggest influences. Expect a wild trip that embraces the true nature and spirit of The Roadburn Festival.
Shrouded in mystery, with no biographical information available, Dark Buddha Rising are known only by their musical output. Their latest LP, Abyssolute Transfinite is an immense, sprawling dirge of doom metal and myriad cryptic incantations. Their unrelenting riffs underpin a variety of vocal intonements (choral singing, chants, screams, throat singing), luring the listener into a trance of doom-induced sensory depravation.
British proto-stoner rockers Leaf Hound will be making a triumphant and highly anticipated return to Roadburn for the 2012 festival. Led by original vocalist Pete French, Leaf Hound gets a chance to reprise their extraordinary 2006 Roadburn performance, this time playing their seminal Growers of Mushroom LP in its entirety.
One of the legendary heavy 70′s acts from England, and cited as a major influence by many current bands, Leaf Hound are still a powerful live band with their devastating show at Roadburn 2006 providing ample proof of their skills. They went on to release their Unleashed album in 2007 and have been celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2011.

We are extremely excited to announce that Coroner will be bringing their amazingly tight brand of technical thrash metal to the 2012 Afterburner, set for Sunday, April 15th at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland.
Swiss legends Coroner picked up the thrash metal mantle in 1987 when Metallica went in a more pop direction and Megadeth began to succumb to their vices. They advanced the genre through amazing musicianship and by adding complex progressive / jazz musical elements like odd time changes and unusual modes, but always stayed true to the metal.
So advanced were the musical concepts that Coroner brought into their world of thrash metal, that their five records not only stand the test of time, but they transcend and expand the boundaries of the genre. Listening to them today is just as exhilarating and relevant as they were 20 years ago.

There is no doubt at all that Coroner will bring supreme metal chops as well as arsenal of amazing songs to their Roadburn show. For those that never got to to see them, this will be an education. For those that did, this should bring near-delirious anticipation of hearing some amazing metal.

Spider‘s self-titled 10-inch (recorded with Graveyard’s Axel Sjöberg on drums) was very well received by Record Collector, and sold out almost immediately.
With our fondness for Swedish rock (we have invited the likes of Witchcraft, Graveyard, Dead Man, Horisont and Troubled Hourse et al, to previous festivals) it’s not surprising that Spiders are appearing at this years Roadburn… and not just because they are Swedish, because they are that good! Spiders will appear on Thursday, April 12th.

A year later, the band experienced some difficulties (Drummer change & lack of weed / beer / gas money) But that didn’t stop them, in march 2011 they released Dark Foil. That Second album ended up getting amazing reviews from around the globe, and of course, outselling the first one. With their slow, pulsating grooves running through the veins of Satan, Dopethrone encompass the bleakness of black metal, the steadfastness of New Orleans-style sludge, and a heavier-than-thou doom mentality. The riffs are thick, punishing, suffocating and destructive. The Demonic vocals are harsh, visceral and animal-like. And the mood is heavy and oppresive.
Dopethrone will play Voivod‘s Au-delà du Réel on Friday, April 13th at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland.

в прошлом году я им писал мэйл... но там вобще и самому, онлайн можно. выбираешь тот тип жилья, который тебе нужен, выбираешь даты
но там вобщем главная фишка в том, что нельзя заказть на дни самохо феста, надо зказывать толи на всю неделю, толи только на уикэнд, что недостаотчно, т.к. фест начинается в четверг. поэтому надо заказывать на всю неделю, но это всеравно получается дешевле, чем любой отель... если брать цену на человека

Ulver‘s music career is a sonic kaleidoscopic epic that saw them start as a lo-fi black metal band, and then begin a continuous morphing through acoustic outsider folk, electronic ambient music, post-symphonic chamber music and electronic post-rock to their current sound which might be called goth / prog / electronic / experimental / art rock.
They are without question one of the most varied, unique and talented bands active today and Roadburn‘s colossally chuffed to welcome them to the 1967 edition of Roadburn, headlining on Thursday, April 12th at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland.
Ulver cleave to a path of their own making, constantly carving out new sonic territories. They are by turns brilliant, perplexing, disconcerting, soothing, brooding, cogitative, thrilling and vexing. During the 1990′s they started with their “Black Metal Trilogy” (Bergtatt, Kveldssanger, Nattens Madrigal) which managed to run the gamut from primitive sounding black metal to folklore-inspired acoustic songs. They made their first major style shift with Themes from William Blake’s The Marriage of Heaven and Hell in which they incorporated elements of industrial and electronica and melded them to texts written by Blake.
The 2000′s found leader Kristoffer Rygg (Garm) assembling a completely new lineup based around programmer / keyboardist Tore Ylwizaker (who joined the band for Themes…) and Ulver was free to go off on their own unique musical path that resulted in an amazing array of styles: minimalist ambient works (Teachings in Silence), full-blown techno / electronica (Metamorphosis), electronic post-rock / trip hop (Perdition City), symphonic soundtrack music (A Quick Fix of Melancholy, Svidd Neger), complex psychedelic / avant-garde rock (Blood Inside) and finally, a more traditional band-playing-instruments approach on 2007′s haunting Shadows of the Sun.
Ulver‘s latest record, Wars of the Roses, adds multi-instrumentalist Daniel O’Sullivan (Guapo, Æthenor, Miasma & the Carousel of Headless Horses etc.) to the lineup and they are now a seamless amalgamation of the enormous spectrum of sounds that they have prospected during the last decade. It promises to be a wild musical ride at their 1967-performance, we can hardly wait!

On Friday, April 13th, Justin will perform as Final. Initially started as a two-piece punk band with a drummachine in 1982, the group recorded its first demo when Broadrick was thirteen years old. The project developed to embrace electronics and dark ambient throughout the years. Justin revived Final by himself in 1993.
Broadrick’s residency will lead into his main project, Jesu, performing on Saturday, April 14th. Named after the last song on the final Godflesh release (Hymns), Jesu (i.e. Broadrick) quickly got established as one of the seminal post-rock pioneers. Since the release of 2006’s Silver EP, which gained comparisons to My Bloody Valentine or Slowdive, Broadrick’s sound evolved further into pop and indie sounds, while maintaining the claustrophobic sonic density his work is renowned for

AUN are a Montreal-based duo that melt the boundaries between psychedelic, ambient and doomgaze music, creating vast ethereal sound-canvases of blurred and cracked solar eclipses, giant mechanical dragonflies flying in huge subterranean caverns, and sub-orbital aerial photographs of ocean wave patterns. Brooklyn’s Tombs bears the mark of total devastation. On the latest album, Path of Totality, Tombs not only evoke the classic sound and feel of black metal in its finest hour they also explore their disparate UK post-punk influences. Ancestors will play on Thursday, April 14th at the Midi Theatre in Tilburg, Holland.
Sweden’s Horisont will return to Roadburn after their highly acclaimed 2010 performance. Unfortunately, they ended up going on at the same time as Witchcraft due to last-minute timetable changes (don’t mention the volcano!) and many people missed it. This time, Horisont will play the Green Room instead of the Bat Cave on Thursday, April 12th at the 013 venue.
If you are an avid heavy 70s aficionado you will definitely dig Sweden’s Horisont. They excel at crafting old school bluesy hard rock influenced by the likes of Blue Cheer, Black Sabbath and November. The fact that the lyrics are sung in Swedish and English adds to band’s appeal. Horisont’s debut album Tva Sidor av Horisonten (“Two Sides of Horisont”) easily ranks among the very best stoner rock albums of 2009 and earned them lots of new fans and a deal with Rise Above Records, which will be releasing their new album.

For their first show, they will be playing their seminal album, The Unreal Never Lived, on Friday, April 13th at Au-delà du Réel, and then in order to reach the greatest of heights (and doom depths), they will follow up by performing Catharsis in full at the additional Afterburner event on Sunday, April 15th at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland.

As curator for the 17th edition of the Roadburn Festival, Voivod will transport you into Dimension Hatröss as part of their special headline show during the Au-delà du Réel event on Friday, April 13, 2012. As if the promise of the band’s classic fourth album in its entirety performed live for the first time ever wasn’t enough, the set will conclude with a not-to-be-missed surprise.
Progressive thrash? Thrashing prog? Call it what you like, Dimension Hatröss is a rarity: a concept album that stands the test of time. In fact, the original storyline has been eclipsed by reality, rendering it not so much a fantastic sci-fi trip as an uncomfortably prescient account of the world today. Divided into eight chapters, the album covers everything from the quest to create a utopian society in the face of technocratic and theocratic governments to terrorism and mind control. Plus, it rocks! It rocks in that uniquely hypnotic flight of the space bumblebee way that hums Voivod! at every dissonant turn.
In the book Worlds Away, drummer and artist Michel “Away” Langevin fondly recalls: “…around the era of Dimension Hatross, the music was so complicated we almost didn’t have any interaction with the crowd anymore because we were concentrating so hard on our instruments.”
Today, blower bass maestro Jean-Yves “Blacky” Theriault interacts with the crowd to the point of jumping into the fray mid-song without missing a beat, while consummate frontman Denis “Snake” Belanger adds theatrics. And anyone who witnessed one or more of their blistering shows during the 2011 European tour can testify that guitarist Dan “Chewy” Mongrain positively thrives on the complexity originally crafted by the late great Denis “Piggy” D’Amour.
But what exactly is a Hatröss? In a 1988 interview with Sounds, Away explained: “‘Hatross’ is a word I created from the English word ‘hate’ and the French word ‘atroce,’ from which ‘atrocity’ is derived.” He added, “The music had to be a bit weird for this album, although we kept the heaviness of it.”

With elements of ’70s progressive and heavy rock, Purson is in league with Blood Ceremony and Jex Thoth, conjuring visions of Hammer horror and pagan rituals. What sets them apart are the incredibly catchy pop-like arrangements inspired by bassist Ed Turner and Cunningham‘s borderline obsessive love of the Beatles. It only took a couple of songs on Soundcloud / Facebook to capture the attention of illustrious Rise Above Records (a 7″ and a full-length are in the works) and Darkthrone’s Fenriz, one of metal’s favorite arbiters of taste, made them band of the week!
We at Roadburn were instant converts, too, spinning those four tracks over and over again, only to wake up screaming, “Must. Have. Purson. NOW!” We are certain that by the time Purson takes the stage at Roadburn 2012 on Saturday, April 14th all of you will be under their sweetly demonic spell, too. Consider yourself warned!

Using organic improvisational techniques, The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation are an improv sideline of members of The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble (who were among the absolute highlights of this years festival). Coming at their improvised ambient jazz from a more drone/doom-informed angle than that of their parental unit, TMFDJC revolves around the plaintive, occasionally eerie and often surprising subtle trombone of Hilary Jeffery as a lead instrument for the group’s cinematic soundscapes.
Squelchy, spaced-out and jittery, the echoing looped soundbed, spectral violin, humming guitar and dense, piercing electronics add a deep hypnotic feel to the colossal drone created by all the musicians as they break loose from whatever space, time or dimension they may find themselves.

Barn Owl is guitarist Jon Porras and guitarist Evan K. Caminiti. Together they create dialogue between imagination and reality through wandering soundscapes, using reverb, delay, distortion, feedback, and effects pedals to create humming sounds that often have South Asian and Middle Eastern tonalities. Like similar ambient guitar and drone metal contemporaries OM, Sunn O))) and Earth, Barn Owl‘s approach to making music hearkens back to minimalist composers Terry Riley, Steve Reich and Philip Glass.
The duo’s intertwining guitars, jumping from major and minor note progressions to deep and dark drones. The movement and patterns of their soundscapes conjure up images of bleak and barren places or wordless avant-garde films about desolate surroundings. Barn Owl‘s latest album, the much-acclaimed Lost in the Glare, is a dreamy affair, quiet and meditative at times, but also explosive with loud power strikes, evoking a spiritual, hypnotic state of mind.

Continuing in their all-consuming search for twisted riffs and rhythms, UK based End of Level Boss return to the Roadburn festival for the first time since their debut appearance in 2006. Joining original vocalist / guitarist Harry Armstrong (ex-Hangnail / Decomposed) this updated line up of the retro-progressive riff worshipers features Peter Theobalds (ex-Akercocke / Gonga) on bass, Neil Grant (ex-RAAR) on drums, and ex-Sloth guitarist Roland Scriver on lead guitars and ever expanding effects. This coming together of styles has made EOLB an angrier, dirtier beast, as shown on their latest album Eklectric – recorded live to tape across 4 short winter days at the end of 2010.
Formed in 2003, End of Level Boss was created to explore a need for off-kilter riffs and mishapen rhythms, forced into a headnodding, footstomping marriage with burned out, unhinged groove. This incarnation of the band have uncovered a mutual need to blend the familiar with the bizzare, resulting in the first EOLB album to be written collectively, through intensive jam sessions, by the entire band.
Previously described as “Kyuss meets King Crimson”, EOLB have taken that recipe and dragged it, kicking and screaming, into an all new, cold and raw direction. Realising this natural progression resulted in the band attacking their latest recording with a deliberate desire to capture the live, punkier elements of Motorhead and Voivod – a band worshiped by all members of EOLB, making their appearance at 2012′s Voivod curated Au-delà du Réel on Friday, April 13th a monumental occasion for these British sound shifters.

Notorious for their use of massive amplification and their nomadic lifestyle, Jucifer are pioneers of the sludge / doom metal two-piece. Whereas Gazelle Amber Valentine and Edgar Livengood‘s eclectic tracks range from grunge to folk and doom (especially on their albums), Jucifer‘s adrenaline-soaked live-show is usually a harsh display of doom, drone and sludge created with throat-ripping screams, a guitar and a drum kit.

Soon after the release of Solar Lovers, Celestial Season underwent a drastic metamorphosis with the arrival of a new singer and the stylistic transitional Sonic Orb EP, thus leaving their original doom metal leanings behind.
Pim van Zanen states: “Now is the time to give Solar Lovers a second chance on stage. To play the album live, start to finish, and make it sound its best is a challenge for all of us.”
Celestial Season will also perform their haunting rendition of Ultravox’s Vienna live on stage for the first time in the band’s existence.
In order to capture the sound and essence of Solar Lovers, Olly Smit and Pim van Zanen have recruited former Orphanage vocalist George Oosthoek. The rhythm section will consist of Jacques de Haard and Rob Snijders, both from the band’s 1998-2001 line-up. Violinist Jiska ter Bals, who appeared on the album, will be joined by cellist Elianne Anemaat to round out Celestial Season‘s characteristic string section.

Voivod and Roadburn are equally thrilled to announce that seminal post-punk pioneers Killing Joke will perform at Roadburn 2012 on Thursday, April 12th as part of the newly expanded Au-delà du Réel event.
Killing Joke was at the top of Voivod’s wish list as soon as they accepted the curator invitation. Unfortunately, Jaz Coleman (vocals, keyboards and arrangements), Geordie Walker (guitar), Youth (bass) and Paul Ferguson (drums) could not make it to Tilburg on Friday, April 13th due to prior commitments. However, in the spirit of Roadburn and true to the Outer Limits theme, it was quickly decided to expand Au-delà du Réel and turn Voivod‘s dream of sharing a stage with Killing Joke into reality.

Once described by Paul Ferguson as “the sound of the earth vomiting,” Killing Joke is anthemic and grandiose in its evocation of nightmare visions. Notorious for their use of inflammatory imagery, a backlash against a world they perceived as ever more materialistic, unjust and conservative, Killing Joke railed against the establishment and created a unique sound from the very start.
Killing Joke was incorporating danceable elements with heavy, aggressive, grinding guitars and pounding tribal drums all the way back in the Eighties. With elements of proto-techno rock, their post-apocalyptic vision inspired bands as diverse and influential as Godflesh, Ministry and Tool. Their legacy can be heard and felt across the entire Roadburn festival spectrum.
Namechecked and covered by dozens of great bands, Killing Joke‘s significance in rock history was acknowledged again in 2005 when they won Kerrang magazine’s prestigious lifetime achievement award. 2010 and 2011 have been two of the most successful years for the band. Absolute Dissent won Album of the Year at the 2010 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards and long-time fan Jimmy Page presented the band the Lifetime Achievement recognition at the Classic Rock Awards.
Bassist Youth revealed the band’s secret to success in a 2011 interview: “A stubborn refusal to go away, fearless about reinventing ourselves and our sound, being authentic to who we are as individuals and a shared common quest in the fearless pursuit of the timeless and eternal qualities in music and life.”
Killing Joke have always been and continue to be more than just a band, which we will witness in living, fire-breathing color during Voivod’s Au-delà du Réel on Thursday, April 12 at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland. Their appearance will coincide with an extensive tour in support of a new album and the set lists on these dates will form the most comprehensive career spanning shows to date!
Please note that Voivod‘s second show originally scheduled for Saturday, April 14th has been moved to Thursday, April 12th as part of the specially extended Au-delà du Réel. We’re thrilled to announce that Legendary US-doomsters Internal Void will be making a rare European appareance at Roadburn Festival Afterburner on Sunday, April 15th at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland.
Internal Void formed in the summer of 1987. After quickly solidifying themselves as front runners in the burgeoning Maryland Doom scene IV released their Voyage demo in 1991. Germany’s Hellhound Records soon signed IV and their first full length offering Standing on the Sun was released in 1993. On the heels of the release of Standing Internal Void embarked on a tour of the southeast United States with Hellhound label mates and doom pioneers Saint Vitus.
Following a contract dispute Internal Void decided to part ways with Hellhound Records. With the departure of original drummer Eric Little, Internal Void settled in with well known Maryland Doom scene and long time friend, former Aylum/Unorthodox drummer Ronnie Kalimon.
After signing with Southern Lord Recordings in 1999 IV released the acclaimed Unearthed on the doom loving masses. As IV continued to gig locally in the mid-Atlantic USA region they soon signed with Dogstreet Records to release their next full length release, Matricide. Following Kelly Carmichael and Adam Heinzmann’s involvement with Pentagram and a few years of down time due to numerous family and personal health issues along with pursuing other musical avenues Internal Void are back with a vengeance!

Sweden’s occult blackened doom metallers Saturnalia Temple are gaining a well-deserved buzz from the metal underground by laying down lysergically thick distorted riffs, super hypnotic pulsating grooves, heavily processed vocals, and druggy effects. This is tripped out, downtuned heaviness at its most carnal, the band slipping from swirling occultic atmospheres to super psychedelic and seriously fucked-up tranced out stoner doom rituals.

Just like Saturnalia Temple, Sweden’s Year of the Goat are creating quite a buzz in the rock underground with the release of their much acclaimed debut EP, Lucem Ferre (Latin for The bringer of light / The son of desert fire).
Year the Goat are inspired by the occult rock bands of the late sixties and early seventies, however, the inspiration is not so much musical as it is about the subject matter of the lyrics and the picture they paint of pagan rituals, Satanism and the dark arts. Year of the Goat don’t really recreate the musical stylings of that era. Instead, the band adds a modern feel to their 70′s flavored occult rock, with an almost prog rock or even indie rock approach to it.
Year of the Goat don’t shy away from using catchy hooks, both vocally and guitar-wise, giving rise to amazing passages like “walk through the mist, to an ancient place, gathering for the King, to invoke his name, potion from the darkest well, opens for pagan souls, hear the angels of heaven wailing, as they call for the lord of darkness…” (taken from Of Darkness).
Year of The Goat are currently working on their debut full-length, which will be released on Van Records next year.

When Instinct: Decay was released in 2006, branded as a psychedelic extreme metal record, it was met with deeply divided feedback –some highly laudatory and some derisive. 5 years later, the record sounds as good as ever and it seems clear that the derision was merely the backlash of closed-minded black metal fans. Change turned out to be a good thing — now Instinct: Decay is hailed as an enormous milestone in USBM history.

в том, что все отели в Тилбуреге уже забиты, я уверен. так что остаётся вариант шале/джангалу. там весело и пзидато:
единственная проблема, что там в одной комнате "двойная" постель, которая по величине, по большому счёту, как одиночная, с одним одеялом... не знаю, как они там вдвоём спали:
ну и в другой комнате постельки не большие, надо сказать. у меня рост, где-то, 190, так у меня ноги сантометров на 30 не умещались нихуя. но хоть две, а не одна
но это всё ерунда, яб сказал.
главное, что мы чет так вяло собираемся в этом году, что, походу, и эти джангалоу/шале тоже все раскурят. так что мы, походу, будем кэмпинговать в палатке... ебись оно всё конём!

можно. но во время роадбёрна на них спрос большой... нам уже не хватило. но велики можно и в самом тилбурге снять. так, по-моему, даже лучше

мы с Айроном брали на прокат в этом году прямо под ж/д вокзалом. вроде 10-12 евро стоили на пол-дня. точно не скажу. но не дорого... хотя я уверен, что есть и по дешевле места. от вокзала проехались в гости к Водке и Ко в Бунгало - занял такс минут 30-40, места там офигеннейшие на природке .
да и впринципе - жить в бунгалко - ок. в след раз я бы туда и намыливался бы. если с машинкой (прокатной или своей), то вообще не вапрос правда надо найти в компашке стрейт эджера-водилу, что скорее всего ..не, не видели

мы в первый день вообще пешком, с рюкзаками от вокзала туда хуярили!
места действительно живописные, с разной живностью. парк здоровый, шо пиздец! про свои грибные приклучения в 3 ночи, в поисках нашего домика, даже расписываться тут не буду
